My uncle had one of these sitting in pieces in his garage for years. He eventually refurbished and completely refitted it and one day drove up to my parents house to take us out for a spin, it was the most exciting looking and sounding vehicle I had ever seen! We will get the blog ticking along again, we will! We will work at it, with blood, sweat and tears. Moving on, I am getting increasingly into the whole idea that brands have 'the' pivotal role to play when it comes to making major movement in social issues, i.e. climate, poverty, equity, arts. Blah blah! And that it can be more than an add-on and actually help build business and explain their intentions. I am excited by it. Anyways, I think Levi's have done a wonderful job with their latest campaign. This image comes from coolhuntings article.

A post inspired by motorbikes!

On the back of our recent posts about Everest and tweed (!) and general 'hardiness', which we love, I started thinking about motorcycle racers. So I wanted to post about Barry Sheene, a motorcycle racing hero during the 70's. I just couldn't find images that did his classic '70's cool' justice. However, I began coming across images of George Harrison, who loved motor racing in general, cars etc, and I came across the images above which I loved and thought I would share (Barry Sheene is pictured with Harrison in the first). I didn't really achieve what I set out out do, but hey! And yeah that's George Harrison in the last image.

I will keep looking for the right images for a motorcycle posting. I'd love to find great images of some old classics like Triumph motorcycles, like the Bonneville.

So Emma joined the Moma as a member. We went there the other day and I definitely want to catch a few of the documentary screenings they have organized over the next week.

Anyway, we perused the Orozco exhibit which was really cool. I wanted to post images of his notebooks which were part of the exhibit but they just don't show well at the size I can post them at! So I have posted some of his other work, I love it. The exhibit closes on March 1 so hurry.

Ooh dear so i am not sure if this post will be out of place on our blog but I have been slightly obsessed recently with Everest, and the early climbers of the peak!

It is pretty cool, and there are some great images from the first summit by Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. I love the colors and landscape. I also love how the early attempts where made by guys wearing 'tweed' (first image, taken in 1925)!

Anyway here are some of those images.

As a big fan of how Jack Spade went about branding themselves I am an even bigger fan of the concept and work of Partners & Spade. They have recently updated their online presence and it shows off their work just great. They operate as a studio and store. Behind it, Andy Spade and Anthony Sperduti. I am at a loose end right now so maybe they need a documentary making, design-led fund-raising professional in their ranks!!? A trip to the Institute

After 15 months in Chicago, an extended stay, me + Em are off to New York. One of the places I will miss in Chicago is the Art Institute, especially the new Modern Wing. It's real neat. They have great photo exhibits, its a shame we will miss a William Eggleston (a hero!) exhibition coming in February. So a while ago we lost a bunch of images from our hard-drive after it crashed! These were some of my photo's that remained. They remind us of 'home'. The first is at an antiques fair in the countryside north of London. The second is on a canal boat on the Regents Canal, it starts in West London, passes by London Zoo and ends up in East London, me and Em love that trip. The third is a view from our old flat in Bethnal Green, next to Columbia Road Flower Market, check it out if you find yourself in East London (Sundays). The fourth is of Emma on the top of the Hayward gallery in an installation by the art collaborative Gelitin, it was very neat. The last was taken near our previous flat in Bethnal Green, East London. Hope you like them.

I have just come across documentary photographer Viktor Kolár. These images were taken between the late 60's and the late 80's, and I think they are great. They were amongst other great photography, ages ago in an exhibition at the Barbican in London.

So, what seems an age ago, before Em & Me moved from London to the States, we visited the Barbican for a Viktor & Rolf exhibition. These images from Wallpaper are a little dated now but it was such a great exhibit, creepy, dark and excellent and I wanted to share them here.

P.S. If you are visiting London, the Barbican is always putting on great exhibitions, plays and concerts. And it is the coolest looking building, depending on your taste!
